hmm...most recipes that thicken start with a butter /flour base. About 1 T. butter is heated to bubbling and then 1 T. flour is added (it will ball up with the butter). Then the milk and the rest are added in the same pan. That might help this recipe.

  1. Scald milk.
  2. Add eggs, sugar, and salt. Stir constantly while adding the hot milk.
  3. Cool and use in doughnuts, pies, and pastries.
