This is something I came across in Germany, they call it Currywurst. I really don't care what you want to call it. It is good, quick and kids love it!
- Cook bratwurst--grill, boil or steam (your choice).
- Mix curry and ketchup.
- Slice bratwurst, combine with ketchup and curry.
- Place in a roll of your choice (I prefer a semi-hard round roll).
I love sausages in general, and am one of those people who puts ketchup on hot dogs, but I don't like many curry dishes. I grilled the bratwurst (on a tabletop grill sprayed with "vegetable oil cooking spray"), and used "hoagies" for the rolls. For the ketchup I measured 1/2 cup liquid measure. The resulting sandwiches were pretty tasty, but I would've enjoyed them even more without the curry powder. Still, I may try this again, if I have a spicy curry powder on hand (I think the one I used was pretty mild), since I love spicy food too.
I Lived in Berlin 36 years ago. There were currywerst stands on corners like coffee carts in Seattle. The currywersts were thin hot dogs grilled with spicy katchup, paperika and curry powder sprinkled on top. You ate them with a small roll and drank warm beer. I make it to this day and use it as an appetizer! Joyce in Florida
