All of these measurements can be played with until they taste the best to you.
- 2 -3 cucumbers, sliced and if desired, peeled
- 1 medium onion
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Mix water, sugar, vinegar, and salt.
- Pour over cucumbers and onions.
- Serve chilled. For extra crispness, top with ice cubes.
Luckily, I like my cucumbers and onions on the sour side. My husband would have preferred a bit more sugar and a bit less vinegar.
