My husband's grandmother used to make cucumber slices something like this but I never had her recipe. This one is very good. I love the fresh dill in it.
MM-MM!! Making again for the second day in a row! Out of white vinegar so subbed balsamic. Used English and regular cucumbers. Also added garden tomatoes! YUM!
i halved the recipe and cut the onion slices into very thin "cubes" instead of full slices. i eyeballed the dressing ingredients but it still turned out lovely fresh. i'm going to let it marinate until the morning to mellow out the onion. i think i'll be doing this again soon!
I loved this salad. It is incredibly simple to make, and very refreshing. I found that it was really good tossed with bowtie pasta, as well as on its own. I salted and drained the cukes before proceeding with the recipe, to make sure they'd be crisp, otherwise I followed the recipe as written. Thanks for sharing!
First slice cucumbers then generously salt and let stand for 20 minutes. Next squeeze a handful at a time in paper towels. Now you are ready to add dressing. No additional salt required. I hate salty. This will not taste salty. Use sour cream, not yogurt for best taste.
Best recipe for cucumber salad I've ever tried. Definitely does not need mayonaisse.
I make this recipe at least twice a month. Sooooo good!!
I am so glad I found this recipe! Absolutely delicious.
The flavors were not over-powering, but were subtle and all worked very well together.
I omitted the onions, and added a bit of onion powder instead.
Thank-you for sharing this one :)
This was great! I used extra dressing. I put in half sour cream and half ranch dressing.
A company-worthy dish. I took your advice and added the mayonnaise, otherwise following the recipe as is. I think I would've preferred the onion diced--will keep in mind for next time. I agree that a fair amount of ground pepper compliments the sugar in this salad quite well. Served this as a refreshing appetizer before a hearty bowl of pasta and meatballs. Thank you for posting.
This is a very refreshing and tasty recipe. I wanted something a little different to take to a cookout and it was a big hit.
