In honor of Eric I made this for our Sunday dinner. I started with a frozen 3lb.+ chuck roast. In 8 hours on low I had a fall apart tender roast that I served over mashed potatoes as suggested. I was told that I could make this anytime!!

Absolutely delicious and so easy to make! The best pot roast I've made and I love that it is in a crock pot! We actually had someone comment of on the yummy smell coming out of our house when they knocked on our door instead of our neighbor's by accident. I will definitely move this recipe into our regular line up. Much more tasty than the top rated slow cooker pot roast on this forum.
UPDATE: Use the soups listed! My husband brought home beef consomme instead of french onion soup and the resulting taste was much less flavorful. We learned our lesson. Don't mess with what works!

We've made this several times and Love it! Have a crock pot going now and can't wait. Will serve with mashed and green beans with garlic.
I now use the same gravy when making shepards pie and it has Never failed me!! As a matter of fact, before this I was asked to never make shepards pie again because my last one was so terrible (and I hold my own in the kitchen). Now it's back on rotation. Thanks!!

I prepared this as directed, except I only used 1/2 can of cheese soup. I think this turned out perfectly. My roast was 2 lbs and took only 6 hours to cook. I had a bowl of this with plenty of the gravy and sopped the gravy with a slice of bread :) I am all about easy and flavor and this fits the bill. It is definitey a keeper!

Such an easy recipe and tastes great. And it doesn't taste like typical canned soup recipe. I love recipe like this. LOL. Great for busy moms.

Was looking for a simple recipe for roast that I could find the ingrediants here in Beijing. This was wonderful though I did have to make a few changes, used dry soups (no canned ones here that I could understand) and couldn't find a cheese soup so used cream cheese. Added fresh muchrooms; seared the roast before placing in the crock pot and added fresh mushrooms, served over noodles and yum - a wonderful dinner that DH has already requested again. Thanks so much for posting.

Pretty good, but the cheddar cheese soup seemed to be the prominent flavor in the gravy. Next time I may just use the mushroom & onion soups. The longer it cooked though, the beef juices seemed to tone it down a bit. Makes for a tender roast with very little prep. Thanks for sharing!

Great comfort food! I used a pork roast because that's what I had, and it turned out really good. I did find it a bit salty, so next time I'll search for reduced sodium soups. Served over egg noodles and with green beans.

I really enjoyed this....we had this over white rice. However, next time I will try it over egg noodles. This will definitely be one of our favorite crock pot meals.
