Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce

"This is such an easy sauce to throw in the pot in the morning, then forget about it until you're ready for dinner! You may also add any vegetables you like or 1-2 lbs. browned meat."

  1. All the ingredients for this delicious sauce can be pulled out of the pantry to make an easy and inexpensive meal. I made the recipe exactly as written and wish I had put in a few more vegetables. I served it with pasta and some breaded fried eggplant, which made a really nice dinner. I never have used chili powder in spaghetti sauce, and it tasted just fine. I did add some red pepper flakes on top of the pasta, and will add them to the sauce next time. Junebug, you have a really good idea here and we enjoyed the sauce very much.

  2. This was great! My best friend came over for dinner and I served this to her proudly. :) I subbed a can of crushed tomatoes for one of the diced cans, and it worked just fine. I also used some of the canned kind that already had basil & oregano seasoning. I left out the sugar. Thanks for a keeper! Very yummy.

  3. We really were not thrilled with this recipe. It sounded very good, and I was very excited to make it, but overall was not impressed and probably will not make again Sorry!

  4. This was a good basic sauce but my family was not thrilled with it. Very easy to fix though by adding more spices that we personally like. We also found it a bit acidic from the tomatoes which may have been the brand I used. I would make this again for sure.

  5. Quite tasty & easy to prepare! It was nice to come home & only have to cook the pasta - 10 minutes - before eating. As a personal preference, we left out the parmesan. I did expect the flavours to be a little more pronounced since they had been simmering all day.

I am a wife, Mother and Grandmother. I am a native Texan and can't imagine living anywhere else. My Grandmother taught me to cook before I could see the top of the counter. I remember standing on a stool in her kitchen learning to make pancakes. My Mother loved to cook and it seems she was cooking (or cleaning) most of the time. So those are the two ladies responsible for nurturing my love of cooking! <a href="http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg77/monji74/?action=view&current=groupie1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg77/monji74/groupie1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> As you can see I cook and review recipes more than I post them. That's because I am a pinch of this and a dollop of that cook and it's hard to put those recipes down on paper. <img src="http://www.satsleuth.com/cooking/Swap14.JPG"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/untitled.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/200_artistrichardneuman-art-prints_.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting">
