"This is a great meal that you can put on in the morning, and have it ready for when you get home. Kids love these!!! Really easy, and simple to make. I often cut this recipe in half, as it makes a lot."

  1. This is a fantastic Sloppy Joe recipe. I have tried several and this is the best one yet. The sweetness of it was just perfect. Thanks for posting this lovely recipe.

  2. I would have given it 5 stars, but my DH said that it was a little too sweet. He wants me to experiment with it to make it have more heat to it and less sweet. All in all, it was VERY easy and I won't do the "canned" stuff again!

  3. I made this tonight, and I will never buy Manwich again!! The large ingredient list may look intimidating, but you throw it all together in the AM, and let it sit all day. When it's dinnertime, it's ready to serve!I halved the recipe to serve my family of five. The sauce was sweet with a nice slight tang to it. Letting it cook in the crock put really allows the meat to absorb the flavors. My kids ages 19 months, Two and a Half, and Ten..LOVED IT! (As did my husband and I) I will definitly make this again!

  4. Made this recipe a number of times, but tweeked it slightly the second time I did it. I use a 5 lb roll of 73/27 ground beef - after browning and draining off the fat the yield is just slightly more than using 4 lbs of leaner hamburger. I then use one medium sized onion and a small green pepper along with 2 cloves of fresh garlic rather than the garlic powder. I finely chop and saute the onion, green pepper and garlic together and then put them in the slow cooker along with the meat. I then put in the tomato sauce, tomato soup, brown sugar, ketchup, worcestershire, mustard and chili powder in the amounts listed in the recipe. I only make one addition - I add in 2 tsp. sea salt. Mix everything real good, cover and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring frequently. I bring this to my Masonic lodge and the guys eat it up like crazy! There is never any left over!

  5. I made these for a work cook-off contest. I won 1st place and the prize was $50!! I followed the recipe exactly and everyone loved it and voted for it! (Yield:15) To serve it I used some hamburger buns (cut in half) and some rolls (perfect sample size). When the buns are cut in half to make them finger size, it makes about 30. Perfect for a family get together and only took me 15 min to prepare on a tray. I can't wait to make this again for my family and have them love it too!
