    This is a hearty meal in one that's easy and can be cooking all day while you are out. It makes a crowd-pleasing crock full, and I usually cut it in half.

    Directions:

      Layer carrots and potatoes in crock pot, set aside.
    2. 2
      In a skillet, brown sausage on all sides and transfer to cooker.
    3. 3
      Reserving drippings from sausage, sauté onion and garlic till translucent and add broth.
    4. 4
      Bring to a boil and stir in pepper and caraway. Pour over sausage in cooker.
    5. 5
      Place sauerkraut over all.
    6. 6
      Cover and cook on low till veggies are tender, about 8 hours.

      This was excellent. We enjoyed it very much. I fixed it for the first time a couple of weeks ago as written. I am going to make this today on the stove top. Thanks for a great recipe.

      My family really loved this! It was a perfect dish for a fall weeknight. The ingredients all worked together perfectly and shared their flavors. I used about 1/2 teaspoon of caraway seeds but could have added a bit more. Apple juice would work well if chicken broth wasn't available. Thanks for a dish that will become a family standard! Made for My 3 Chefs. ThanKs!!
