I put these on at midnight and they were done at 7 am. Cooked a big pot to have on hand. We do refried beans at least once a week. I added one stock of celery.
I was looking for a crock pot pinto bean recipe that would make beans that were tasty and want you to come back for more. I used jalapenos from the garden that made this recipe perfect. So easy to prepare, will prepare again and again!
Followed the recipe to a "T"....these beans were delicious!!! The only thing I added was 2 lbs of chorizo sausage....make it taste similar to borracho beans. Thanks for sharing Whitty Smith!
Ok,I kicked these up a notch and I believe them to be 5 star now.lol
I always change a recipe and this is a real good base to start.I added 1 green bell pepper, diced,a smoked ham hock and a T sugar.I thought it was missing something and I had forgot the Jalapeno's.Didn't have them so threw in a can of ro-tel tomatoes.Wow!I adjusted the salt with a little more and got a pot of supreme pinto's that went great with buttermilk cornbread.Next day I made re-fry's out of the leftover's and they were killer too. Will cook these again! Thanks for the recipe.
