"The easiest way to make pasta sauce...obviously you can leave out the meat or use any other meat you want. I have also used a round steak and pork chops."

  1. I have to say that this is a very flavorful sauce. I did take one reviewer"s suggestion and used Italian seasoning in place of the spices listed. BUT, for whatever reason, my sauce was very thin and almost watery. I will try it again, but definitely tweak it so it is thicker.

  2. This was wonderful. I even put the chicken breasts into the crock pot while they were still frozen! It was such a nice kick to a regular jarred sauce. I did not have the dry red wine, but it was still great. I will add it next time to give it a try.

  3. Very good, similar to chicken cacciatore. It made for a great meal to come home to after a day at work. I used 3 frozen chicken breasts, used 1/2 onion, 1/2 cup of red wine, added one sliced green pepper and used a 28 oz can of chopped tomatoes seasoned with oregeno, garlic and basil, 1 jar of Hunts low sugar pasta sauce and a sprinkling of dried oregano and basil over top of the sauce, then a stir to mix sauce. Cooked on low for about 9 1/2 hours. Chicken was very moist and tender. Served this with a side of penne pasta for my son; ate solo with a tossed salad for me because I'm watching my carbs. Will enjoy as leftovers for lunch tommorrow....will melt some shredded parm and/or mozzarella on top of chicken, upon reheating. Thanks for posting, will make again!

  4. I make this at least once a month, we love it! And so easy to throw together in the morning before work. I have made this with chicken, stew meat, round steak and pork chops! Doesn't get any easier, and your guests think you slaved! Just grab a loaf of crusty bread and a green salad and you are set. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Looking for something I could make with my daughter, that all would like, and we could eat upon returning home from school and swimming lessons, and this fit the bill. It was good, healthy and quick. It makes tons and my DH will take some to work tomorrow and I will eat some tomorrow when he is out of town. GREAT! Thanks for posting.

  2. Very nice pasta recipe, especially for a chicken dish! I will use this one again. Here are my very minor alterations: I used 4 tsp Italian seasonings instead of oregano and basil (both included). I used canned whole tomatoes instead of chopped tomatoes, squeezing the whole tomatoes through my fingers to break them apart (yes, it seems icky, but this technique has been suggested on a previous tomato pasta recipe I regularly use and the resulting consistency is exquisite!) Finally, I doubled the garlic, as usual. Thanks for posting!

I live in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to run into Recipezaar around Nov. 2000 and got hooked quickly. I am a cookbook collector and have been collecting recipes for as long as I can remember. My DH had to build in shelves for all my cookbooks! I like to dabble with OAMC and for a few years hosted the Budget/OAMC forum with some great people over there. Even though I don't work in the forum any longer I've set up a lot of cookbooks for the purpose of OAMC and stretching food that might be helpful. Please feel free to check them out! I go on food jags and cooking jags! Please come say hi to me and chat on facebook. I currently host a blog for saving money through finding deals and coupons if you are interested. Most of the time I try to cook and have a good dinner on the table but I'll be honest enough to say there is still fast food occasionally in the budget! I have had such wonderful support here whenever I need it. Thank you all for being here! Just a quick note on how I rate recipes: ? 5 stars - This recipe is perfect. (My DH is truly a critic and doesn't give 5's unless it's amazing) I would recommend it to others and would definitely make again. ? 4 stars - This recipe was good but I would change something in it next time. ? 3 stars - This is a recipe I would not make again but it was OK ? 2 stars - This recipe I would not make again and we didn't like it at all ? 1 star - This recipes did not work out/taste was unappealing and wouldn't make again
