I have been making this for years, but with only one can of soup and a little added Worcestershire sauce. I decided to try to make it OAMC, and it worked beautifully! I mixed the soup, water, sauce and Copycat Lipton's Onion Soup Mix, then put them in a ziplock freezer bag. I put the cube steaks in a large freezer bag, then dropped the small bag with the soup mixture inside. It was frozen for about 2 months before I thawed it and made it in my crock pot. It worked wonderfully! Thanks for a delicious, easy, and OAMC friendly steak!
Very tasty! I used 4 cube steaks, 2 cans garlic cream of mushroom soup, one can beef consomme, and i pkg. beefy onion soup.
Pretty good but we felt it needed a bit more seasoning...I will definately make it again but will add some Garlic and some Red Pepper Flakes to give it a little kick. Served it with Veggies and Garlic Bread, which was great for sopping up the gravy.
Great recipe! I decided to make this a complete one pot meal, added in a medium size bag of baby carrots, 6 baby red potatoes, and a 2 celery stalks cut up into 4 pieces and 1 cup of sliced fresh mushrooms. It was perfect and not too salty at all! Oh and I used lower sodium cream of mushroom soup. Thank you for posting Bullscreeker! This is a great recipe I will use often! :-)
My family and I did not care for this. Almost half the meat dissolved into the liquid so we were left with 3 cube steaks and gritty gravy (due to the dissolved meat). While this smelled great, it didn't taste good. All I could taste in the gravy was the high salt content. This was still edible bit it's not something I would make again.
Soooooooo delicious! Can't wait to make again. So easy and the gravy was amazing.
YUMMO! !!!This is awesome. I could not wait to give you the review, we just finished dinner and it too was for Fathers Day & my Husband & Dad both loved it! We doubled the recipe, and we loved it! Thanks for the awesome recipe. It's a keeper!!!!!!8.16.08 This again will be our dinner, with mash taters and a pineapple updise down cake!! I cannot wait!
We have been looking for some new ways to prepare cube steak besides the traditional pan-fried or country-fried methods. This was SO easy to make and my bf went back for thirds! I thought it looked like it would be overcooked but the steak was SO tender and flavorful! I served it with buttered egg noodles with parsley and peas with pearl onions. Thanks so much for a delicious, inexpensive new meal that I'll definitely be adding to my "busy worknight meal" repertoire!
We liked this for dinner. I used 4 cubed steaks, 1 can of the soup and 1/2 a packet of the onion mix. I cooked on low for 5 hours, then added a 4 oz. can of sliced mushrooms (incl. water) and cooked on high for an hour and a half. It was a little salty, and I'd probably increase the water to 3/4 c. next time. I served with garlic roasted potatoes and biscuits. Thanks for posting!
