This is really delicious. Followed the recipe exactly and used the hand blender after the final hour to thicken up - but left lots of chunks of potatoes and corn. served topped with bacon and homemade bread. Yummy!
What's better than having hot soup waiting for you after a busy day? I made this as written, using 3 potatoes. I chopped them fairly small, so they were perfectly tender afetr about 7 hours. I did mash them a bit, but I still woud have liked the soup to be thicker. I only used 2 tbsp of butter with the milk. Next time I will add some cornatsrch to the milk to thicken this some more. Thanx for posting!
Good recipe, a few minor mistakes on my part. I only had one potato, so my soup was a little bit... empty. The flavor was GREAT (I added some fresh ground pepper, a few dashes of paprika and a splash of Tabasco), but the broth was a bit thin. Next time I think I'll try stirring in some instant potato flakes at the end for thickness, and make sure to cut the onions a bit smaller. Overall, tasty!
This is a very easy dinner and tastes pretty good too! I missed the bacon flavour in it and next time I will fry a few pieces and crumble it into the mixture. The other problem I had I think was my own. My potatoes simply would not soften up even after cooking the 9 hours. It may have been the potatoes I was using so won't blame the recipe. My husband said he liked them better when they were a bit firm. I like them soft and. . . well, guess who cooks!! Even though it would add another step, I will saute the onions before throwing them into the slow cooker. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
I didn't think it was very good. It was thin and plain. It needs some seasoning or bacon or something.
This soup was very easy and tasty, but it was lacking in protein. My husband and I decided it would be good with some smoked sausage.
A crock-pot recipe that can be put together in 5 minutes! We love corn chowder at our house and this was one that I can throw together before leaving for work with very little work. I agree with GaylaV though, the potatoes would not become soft - I tried mashing them before adding the milk and then again an hour later.
Delicious and easy soup. I liked it with lots of freshly ground black pepper.
