This was delicious! I tweaked the recipe though. I added a package of onion soup mix instead of beef stew seasoning, replaced the water with a can of beef stock and threw in a few chopped potatoes. I didn't have Gravy Master, so I just added a cornstarch slurry at the end, mixed it into the stew and turned the crock pot to high for 30 minutes to thicken it up. It was great.

We enjoyed this stew very much! I used onion soup seasoning, added 3 large white potatoes, and scaled the recipe to work with 3 lbs of beef. I also used beef stock instead of water. I couldn't find gravy master so I omitted that. I did also coat the beef in flour and browned it first, and then put it in the crock pot, and then deglazed the pan with a little red wine and beef stock and put that into the crock pot as well. I served the stew in bread bowls, and my 6 year old daughter loved it. I think I'll definitely be making this one again.

Delicious! Did exactly what Chef#1539310 did. It came out great. Did not use Gravy Master. What is that anyway?!

Great stew. I substituted a can of beef stock for water, added potatoes and used beefy onion soup mix instead of beef stew seasoning, but kept everything else pretty much the same. Wonderful flavor. I would recommend this one any day of the week.

This was SUCH a great recipe! Oh my word. I just started cooking this past year and I have wanted to make a beef stew for awhile. This was my very first one and the recipe made it SO easy and delicious. I did make a few changes. I used just over 2lbs of beef. I DID NOT use the beef stew seasoning or the gravy master or the bouillion cubes (although I may at the cubes the next time). I added 6 potatoes cut up into small bite size chunks. I cooked this in a 6 qt crock pot and added 900 ml of beef broth and about a cup of water. I ended up adding about an extra 1/4 cup of flour a few hours into it in order to thicken it up a bit. Oh and I used 2 garlic cloves, not 1. I cooked it on low for about 7.5/8 hrs. Seriously this was SUCH a great meal and I have tons left over for tomorrow! Highly recommended!

I loved this recipe! Like some others I added 6 potatoes and instead of the water I used beef broth and onion soup mix. I also coated the meat in flour and browned in oil first before putting into the crock pot. I saw another recipe that used 1 pop can sized V8 juice so I tossed that in too! I got rave reviews from that family that served as my guinea pigs! Thanks so much for a great recipe!

This will get made again in my crock pot. Here's how I did it: I floured/seasoned and sauted up the beef first; used the whole 1/4 cup of flour; used the whole 2 1/2 lbs of beef and even though I added 1-1/2 potatoes, chopped, and 1 cup of peas, I did not need to add any extra liquid while it cooked. I did substitute 1 14oz. can beef broth for the water - with about 1/4 cup of water only. I used 2 garlic cloves, and 3 stalks of celery. I could not locate Gravy Master, but it was not needed. The broth of this stew was thick and wonderful. Did not need to eat it over anything, just in bowls with large hunks of fresh bread!

Ok I confess, I've never made this recipe. In fact I don't even own a crock pot, but I know there are some crock pot lovers out there, so here's another one to try.
