1. I have made this several times but I'm one to meddle with recipes. I just can't help it. My mom was an excellent cook and but she did not use recipes except for baking. Pinch of this and pinch of that was her way. When I make this recipe I use cubed up tri-tip steak and use two Tbsp of brown sugar instead of apple juice which I never have on hand. I use also prefer oyster mushrooms in this recipe but cheaper ones work well too. The last time I made this (yesterday) I had to use sweet soy sauce instead of the onion soup mix and it was really good.

 2. Made a version of this from 101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker. Differences-3 lb. stew meat, entire package of onion soup mix. Everything else the same. Delicious hearty comfort food; served over rice. Love

 3. This recipe, by far, is the most delicious we have had in a long time! My husband could not believe how great it taste. I messed up when I was making it but I guess that worked in our favour. Instead of half the pack of onion soup mix, I used the entire pack. And I read the 1/2 cup of apple juice as 1/2 the can!! Don't worry, it was by far AMAZING. I am going to make it the same way again.
Also added fresh mushroom and an or so from finishing time and they cooked perfectly.
Going to make this as my vegetarian gravy (obviously without the beef) for all my future meals.
Served over rice as I was out of egg noodles.

 4. This was awesome! Great for all the mushroom lovers out there. I followed some of the others postings and added fresh mushrooms an hour before eating. Served over brown rice. Love it!

 5. It doesn't get much easier than this! The only change I made was to add the whole pack of the onion soup mix since I wasn't sure when I would find a time to use it again. It tasted good so I don't think that was a problem at all. The dish is sort of like beef stroganoff meets beef stew. So, I served it with buttered noodles but think it would also go very well with rice to soak up the tasty juices. Made for Please Review My Recipe tag.
