    Great recipe for apple pie that bakes while you're at work. Great served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    Directions:

      Toss apples in a large bowl with cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg.

      Place in lightly greased crock pot.
    3. 3
      Combine milk, softened butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and the 1/2 cup of Bisquick.
    4. 4
      Spoon over apples.
    5. 5
      Combine the 1 cup Bisquick and brown sugar.
    6. 6
      Cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly.
    7. 7
      Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the other Bisquick mixture.
    8. 8
      Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until apples are soft.

      I sprinkled extra Bisquick on mine. I only had 6 apples, and it was still delicious. It was done in 5 hours, and I had to leave the house. I turned it off and when I came back it had continued to make the nicest crust, and it was still warm. I will make this for an 'everyday apple dessert', but I will continue to make more special apple desserts than this for holidays. Presentation is very important for holidays, and this just doesn't look that great.

      Holy cow - a coworker made this for our CrockIT luncheon this week... and it was fantastic! He didn't have allspice so he substituted in a 1/4 tsp of cloves - great choice! It was the perfect consistency too.
      His tip... cooking time is key. The longer it cooks the more the apples break down.
      You can call it 'pie' or 'cobbler'... but I call it 'DELICIOUS'!

      O.K I was so skeptical about this dish right up until me and the family actually tried it for dessert. It was great. I used a few gala apples with the granny smith apples (still used 8 all together). The granny smiths cooked firmer while the galas were softer and kinda mushy. The combination was perfect. I did use a large crockpot and cooked it for 7 1/2 hours. This is more like a cobbler like ColoradoCookin said . It had just the right amount of gooeyness . I woulda given this a 5 star but it lacks presentation, it definatley taste better than it looks. I'll be makin this for Thanksgiving. Oh don't forget the vanilla ice cream. I'm thinkin on using splenda sugar and splenda brown sugar next time. I wonder how that will work. TY very much nnreq.
