I had to try this recipe because it was submitted by someone who had the recipe since 1940 when she was a teenager and just learning to cook. This makes a terrific cookie.   1. Cream sugars and shortening.
  2. Add eggs.
  3. Combine all the dry ingredients and add to mixture gradually, blending well.
  4. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheet and bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.

I have been experimenting the last few weeks, looking for the best crispy oatmeal cookie. Not crumbly, crispy! Well I found it. This recipe is awesome. The only thing I added was a little caramel. My whole family voted these the best.
