Crispy Buttermilk Chicken

This is a great version of fried chicken and goes great with any salad!

Flavourful very good although I did change this somewhat to use what I had on hand. As a preference I changed the thyme to dried marjoram and instead of buttermilk I substituted a little Balkan yogurt, heavy cream & bit of lemon juice in the cream first for a couple minutes. I used garlic salt as that is what I had and omitted the salt. I would make this again using marjoram. Made for Ramadan Tag 2010.

  1. In a bowl, blend first 4 ingredients. In a resealable plastic bag, combine 1/2 the seasoning mixture, buttermilk, and chicken. Let marinate at least an hour.
  2. In a seperate plastic bag, blend flour and remaining seasoning mixture. Remove chicken from marinade, and discard marinade. In batches, coat chicken in flour mixture.
  3. In deep fryer, heat oil to 350 degrees and fry the chicken in batches for about 15 minutes.
  4. Enjoy!
