Excellent green beans! This recipe is going into my best of 2016 cookbook. We all loved it. I used fresh green beans instead of the frozen. The only thing I will do differently next time, is to put the bacon in first and let it brown a bit before adding in the green beans and other ingredients. This may be my favorite green bean recipe now. Thank you!
I generally like my beans cooked just enough to have some crunch but thought I'd give this a whirl for a change. WINNER! I did use fresh beans because the farm stands are over-flowing with them right now but otherwise made as directed and cooked them for as long as directed. :) I wouldn't change a thing. K9Owned/Lesley
We loved this recipe. It was pretty quick to prepare, too. The bacon and all the seasonings really add a lot flavor to the beans. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Lavender Lynn. Made for Culinary Quest 2016 (Bahamas).
Yum. I really enjoyed these. As already said, kind of the standard southern beans but kicked up a notch. I love anything Cajun/Creole so this was a good variation that I'll make again. Thanks Lynn for sharing. Made for For Your Consideration tag.
What a yummy way to make green beans!!! It reminds me of the normal Southern way, with the bacon and onion, and then you add in the twist of the Cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper. I did switch some things up, I used a can of French Style Green Beans and then I also cut back on both the Cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper for my wimpy palate!!! We had this with Zesty Cajun Skirt Steak, baked potato and garlic bread for one awesome meal!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Made for ZWT 9.
We loved this! I made it with fresh green beans that I trimmed and cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly.
Other than the heat, this reminded me of how we ate green beans growing up!!! Will definitely make this again!!!
What a great way to enjoy green beans! I couldn't find a 14-oz. package of green beans, and had to use 16-oz. I actually thawed the beans first, but it's definitely not necessary. I also used on 3 large thick slices of bacon. It's a lot of cayenne pepper, so may sure you can take the heat, but we loved it. I didn't add any additional salt, as the bacon works well for that. I would probably use a yellow or red bell pepper next time, simply because it would add a bit more color. What a great side dish. Made by a Tasty Tester for ZWT9.
