For our family this sauce makes the salad! It is identical to the sauce served years ago at a very popular tea room in Portland, OR.
- 1 cup mayonnaise (I use Best Foods)
- 3 tablespoons chili sauce
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 dash Tabasco sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Blend well and refrigerate.
- Serve on Crab or Shrimp salad or cocktail.
I'll admit the only reason I tried this recipe is because I needed a dipping sauce for shrimp and didn't have the horseradish every other recipe called for. This is definitely a recipe I'll be using again, though. It was easy to put together and the flavor is really easy to adjust. I added an extra dash or two of hot sauce when the wife wasn't looking but it turned out really well. Thanks for putting this up!
We enjoy this with some fried rice and egg rolls and a stir fry I made from Emeril Live show. I added a dash or two more of Tabasco sauce and just a tsp of rice vinegar. I even believe this sauce would be great on a salad too. My DH said it reminded him of Thousand Island dressing. :) It was very simple to make. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I made a half recipe of this to serve with crabcakes. I added a lot more than a dash of Tabasco (probably 1/4 teaspoon) to give it more of a kick. This would be a good dressing for a Louie salad.
