Creamy Pasta with Bacon

"I have to admit whenever I first saw this I was skeptical...but after one bite, I was hooked. It has a flavor that I didn't expect, especially after hearing the ingredients. I don't know where it originally came from as I got this recipe from my mom. Unsure of serving amount...makes quite a bit though."

  • Cook pasta and drain.
  • Fry bacon, drain off grease, and crumble into small pieces.
  • Saute mushrooms, garlic, and green onions in bacon grease.
  • Add pasta, parmesan, bacon pieces, whipping cream, and black pepper to sauted mushroom mixture.
  • Simmer until slightly thickened.
  • Enjoy!

  2. I've been making this recipe for over 5 years now, and I'm shocked I'm just now reviewing it. It might not be the healthiest recipe, but it is delicious! I have made this on multiple occasions for an array of different people, and everyone has always loved it! It is definitely a staple recipe of mine, and when I'm wanting a comfort meal, I make this!

Tweaks

  1. Great, easy dish for a quickie dinner after working in the yard all day. I tweaked it by using lots more mushrooms (like a previous rater), and used a can of low-fat 2% evaporated milk instead of cream. Added a handful of leftover peas, and used mostly Asiago cheese along with Parmesan. Yummy! Thanks for the great recipe!
     
  2. This is a very rich dish! Salty, Smoky, Creamy and easy! I did make a couple of changes. I used mini penne pasta, Dried porcini mushrooms {didn`t state what kind of mushroon to use}that I soaked in water strained the water and used the liquid in the sauce{intense flavor}, yellow onion in place of the scallion, and 2 percent milk in place of the cream. Thier was enough saltiness from the bacon and cheese so be sure to taste before adding salt. I added lots of pepper. I would add some fresh or frozen green peas for color next time.
