Made in a slow-cooker.
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 2⁄3 cup dried tart cherries or 2⁄3 cup dried sweetened cranberries
- 1⁄3 cup chopped dried fig
- 1⁄3 cup chopped dried apricot
- 4 1⁄2 cups water
- 1⁄2 cup half-and-half
- Combine all the ingredients in a slow cooker; stir to mix.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8-9 hours, or overnight, until done.
- Serve the oatmeal straight from the pot with no embellishment but a light sprinkle of sea salt, a pat of butter, and milk.
