This did not turn out the way I envisioned it. It didn't taste at all the way I wanted. It was very sweet, and...not for me, I guess. (but they can't all be winners, and Kittencal bats most of them out of the ballpark!)
This is a great recipe that can be used for several things besides the salad. I used 1/4 c Splenda for the sugar and added some horseradish. I served it over some mixed vegetables and we loved it.
SSOOO GOOODDDD! I par boiled some red potatoes, added an egg and peas...delish potato salad
sooooooo Goood!!! with pita ham sandwich.. hot or cold.. turkey... vegetable pita cooked .. sooo good.. love it... it smells awful when making it.. but sooo worth IT>. My kids and friends love it.. Great recipe.. fairly easy to make.. 7 ingredients..
First of all, I knew I had to try this because I have 7 cats and it's written by a cat lover. OMG! This is really, really good. I just stood at the kitchen counter eating it by the spoonful. I tried it on a gyros sandwich when I didn't have any tzatziki sauce and it was very tasty. Then I marinated some chicken breasts in it and cooked on the grill. Again a winner. I'm looking forward to trying it on some wings. I followed the recipe exactly and didn't think it was too sweet so I added a couple packages of Sweet N'Low. I like the idea of putting some horseradish in it too. When you simmer the red wine vinegar and garlic on the stove, it does fill the house with a very pungent aroma, so I was glad it was warm and I could open the windows. My entire house smelled from garlic for hours. But it is so worth it. I never buy bottled salad dressings because of all the additives, and it's so easy to whip up some from scratch. This will definitely be my go to recipe for Creamy Garlic Dressing. Thanks kittencalskitchen! I just wanted to add that today I used it as a dipping sauce for grilled artichoke hearts and it was awesome.
I kept looking for a Creamy Garlic salad dressing at the supermarket, but couldn't find anything. Then I found this in a Google search. It's delicious! I might use a bit less sour cream and slightly increase the onion / vinegar / garlic ratio, and even add a small amount of lemon, to increase the dressing's tanginess, but overall, I really love this. And as others have pointed out, it can be used for more than just salads...would make a great dip for buffalo wings or even potato chips.
Omg! This is amazing! I few days ago I had a craving for a dressing I had earlier this year at a restaurant in Connecticut, and this recipe not only filled that hankering, but it also became my favorite dressing recipe! I reduced the sugar to maybe about 2 tsp, and mixed in one clove of raw garlic (minced of course) with the sour cream and mayonnaise. I can't get enough of this! Thanks for posting!
Wow! This really fantastic. I used shallots in place of the onions and 6 cloves of garlic. This will knock your socks off! I loved the suggestion to make potato salad with this - with the fourth of July coming up - I will definitely try it.
Needed a recipe for Garlic Buffalo Wing Sauce. Used 3/4 cup of this garlic dressing recipe with 1/4 cup Franks Red Hot Wing Sauce and 4 tbls melted butter. It was awesome. Four lbs wings and all this sauce eaten during Superbowl. Very very good.
I love this dressing but I like it better without the sugar.
