I made this last night for dinner, followed the directions exactly & the mixture never did get thick like a gravy should. I did like the nutmeg flavor.

  1. Instructions for cornbread: Preheat oven to 425F and grease an 8" square pan.
  2. Mix cornmeal ingredients together until smooth.
  3. Turn into prepared pan.
  4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until done.
  5. For the chicken, melt butter in saucepan; combine with flour, nutmeg, salt & pepper.
  6. Stir in broth; add milk & cook until thick.
  7. Add chicken.
  8. Serve over squares of corn bread.
