Cream Sauce for Swedish Meatballs

In England, swedish meatballs are very available and cheap. They are very good with the following cream sauce and boiled potatoes. My son, who has to be one of the faddiest people on the planet, found this delicious. This is from the cookbook 'Ikea's Real Swedish Food Book'.

Wonderful sauce!!! I used homemade stock and added a little beef base checking carefully that it didn't get too salty (thank you other reviewers). I also sauteed a minced shallot before adding the broth. This is going to be a 'go to' sauce for other dishes as well as the meatballs. As a public service announcement to my American friends I want to mention that the measurements are in Imperial as the chef is English. What this means to you is that a pint in England is 20 oz versus the 16 oz you may be accustomed too.

  1. Swirl out the pan with boiling beef stock.
  2. Add the cream.
  3. Add the flour mixed with approx 1 tablepoons of water.
  4. Add the seasonings.
  5. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve with Swedish meatballs.
