Cream Cheese Shrimp Cocktail Dip

"Found this in Kraft Foods Magazine and sounds easy great for when companies coming. Once I pick up all the ingredients I plan on making it as a dip that's just a little different. Also suggested a substitute of 1 8oz package of chopped crabmeat for the shrimp. Will serve with crackers. Edited to change amount of shrimp to 3/4 pound based on flowers post. Thanks flower for the information."

  1. This recipe is great with crabmeat instead of shrimp. I use two cans of crabmeat, drained and rinsed, then mix it with the cream cheese and re-shape it into a block. Make this ahead and let it refrigerate for a couple of hours, then pour your favorite cocktail sauce over the block so it pools on the plate.Serve with mild-flavored crackers. I've never made it with parmesan cheese, but plan to next time.

  2. This was so easy and quick to make, and was so yummy! I whipped it up Christmas morning, to take to my Mum's house for mid-morning nibblies, and everyone just loved it! It disappeared really quickly,a nd I had people ask for the recipe! I'll definately be making this again! :)

  3. This was really yummy but I think next time I will either do a thicker layer of cream cheese or a thinner layer of shrimp as the ratio seemed off to me. Also, I saw this recipe at Kraft's website and it called for 3/4 pound of shrimp _not_ 3/4 cup. I used Recipe #287829 for the cocktail sauce and grated Parmesan as it was what I had. Thanks for posting this simple, fast, and tasty recipe!

  4. This is always a hit at get-togethers! So easy to make. I often just use the cream cheese, cocktail sauce and crabmeat. Never any left overs!!
