Wow, was this good. I thought the prep and cook times were right on point, and the chicken came out super moist -- not dry at all. I followed the recipe, using fresh oregano as you suggested, with some minor changes: Do green onions count as an herb? I wasn't sure, so I didn't know if they were supposed to go in the chicken at step 3, but I threw them in there anyway. I also used toothpicks to hold the chicken breasts together once I folded them back up. They made it a lot easier to dip the chicken in all the different bowls without having it come apart/get really messy. I like a lot of garlic, so I used more than 1/4 teaspoon, probably about 1/2 or a little more. I also used Italian-flavor breadcrumbs, which I thought went really well with the oregano... all the flavors were just constantly present in all the different levels. This was very delicious, and when it's done, it looks and tastes like it was very difficult to prepare -- a good way to trick people! Thanks for a nice way to use up cream cheese!
Enjoyed this. I did have to turn them over once. Very moist. Thanks for the recipe.
I made this on December 13th 2009. I used exactly the amount of cream cheese that it called for, it turned out a little dry,so the next time I am going to use at least 3 or4 tablespoons of the cream cheese. It has a very good flavor and taste over all.I mixed Parmesan cheese with coconut flakes with the dry seasoning to add a little crispness and flavor. I also used shallots instead of onion. I think it would be very moist if it was covered with aluminum foil to help keep the moisture inside the pan. I will make this again. Thank you for posting Angie ,,,Ed's girl.
I added in a few leaves of spinach along with some basil instead of just the herbs. I added another tablespoon of cream cheese too, then kept the other ingredients the same except I used 1/3 c. bread crumbs 1/3 c. parmesan cheese 1/3 tsp. garlic powder and 3 T. melted butter. My friends and I loved this and we all give it 5 stars here!
Absolutely wonderful! I only had two monstrous chicken breasts, so i cut it in half, then spread the cheese onto each half. I used oregano and basil and otherwise followed the directions to a T. Other than one of my chicken breasts coming "unfolded" slightly, this turned out amazing. My boyfriend, who was feeling under the weather, just raved. An instant favorite!
Absolutely delicious. Instead of just putting plain cream cheese with herbs on top, I made a batch of my Amazing Cream Cheese Spread Amazing Cream Cheese Frosting and it took it to a whole other level! I almost forgot to drizzle butter on top of the coated chicken, but this is a very important step! I loved the crunchy crust, and I had to bake mine for 35 minutes at 350, and then another 15 minutes at 425 to get it crunchy! I will make this again and again as it was loved by all....
My family flipped over this chicken. Next time I will make another half of the recipe so we can have all we want. And there will be a next time!
Mmmmmmmm...This one is a keeper. I used fresh basil with outstanding results. It is THE perfect dish for a dinner party. It looked very professional and it tasted even better. Thank you.
These were delicious! They came out moist and the breading worked wonderfully :) My bf loved them also, this one is definatly going in the save folder!
This was really good. I had some left over fresh Oregano and found this recipe to try. Wasn't real sure of the outcome but WOW I was impressed. Will try again with a different herb.
