This is really great. Don't worry if you're not a big sauerkraut fan because the sauce cuts the pucker power of the kraut. The sweet & spicy sauce is great with the kraut and the meatballs.

I always get asked for this recipe--usually from someone who hates sauerkraut--cracks me up--I have also had success freezing the sauce and thrown in a crockpot with premade meatballs from Sam's Club for a quick & easy throw together for company--Thank You Cricket

Good, simple family meal. I took Bergy's suggestion and added a tablespoon of Dijon and reduced the water to 3/4 cup. My son thought the kraut was cabbage, which was good because he doesn't like sauerkraut.

I cut the recipe back to two servings - worked well. The oven time was also cut back to 1 1/2 hours. I loved the mixture of flavors but would add a tbsp or so of Dijon mustard and cut back on the water. This is the perfect recipe for Sauerkraut haters - it has a nice tang and really doesn't taste of Kraut at all. I will make this again.

These are good! The strange blend of flavors in the sauce actually turns out really well.
