  1. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Add egg,orange peel and orange juice all at once; stir just until mixture is evenly moist.
  4. Fold in cranberries and walnuts.
  5. Spoon into a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.

This sounds like the recipe I always made for years at Thanksgiving & Christmas. It was on the back of the bag of fresh cranberries which I cut out & soon misplaced. Thanks for finding it. It is truly delicious.

This bread is a tradition on the Thanksgiving table in our family. We love the tartness of the cranberries in contrast to the sweet bread.
