When a friend of mine first served this to me I couldn't believe how something so delicious could be so easy to make. Now I never let my family use the French dressing, I'm always hoarding it for when I make this chicken.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 (16 ounce) can cranberry sauce
  • 1 bottle French dressing
  • 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package onion soup mix
  • 1 large chicken, cut into eight servings

Directions

  1. Mix the first three ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Place the chicken pieces in a baking dish.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken to coat evenly.
  4. Bake covered at 350 degrees F.
  5. Uncover for the last 1/2 hour.

I made this in the crockpot. At 4 hours on high it was done. Then I removed the lid and let the liquid reduce down until I served it later over rice. I used 12 ozs of the dressing. Next time I'll use the whole cranberry sauce for added texture. Thank you it was very good.

I just love these easy recipes that yield a wonderful dish! The chicken was so moist and very tasty. I used a 16 oz can of whole berry cranberry sauce and a 16 oz bottle of low fat sweet & spicy French dressing with 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. I baked it covered for 1 hour, which I backed into from the total baking time and subtracting the uncovered baking time. Only problem is that they ate just about everything so I don't really have leftovers! LOL

DH liked it and I thought it was o.k. Used drumsticks and thighs for the chicken. I think I would've liked more cranberry flavor and less dressing but that's easy to adjust. Had tons of sauce which I think didn't allow for maybe the meat to get a good glaze on it. Liked how easy it was to put together. Thanks for sharing it!
