Needed a quick recipe for a last-minute event - WOW! I used 1/4 cup LESS sugar, 3/4 TABLESPOON vanilla, and I rolled the 24 cookie balls (made 'em a touch larger) in the 1/4 cup of sugar saved from recipe. Since I'm at a higher elevation I baked for 11 minutes at 375 degrees.<br/>This is a keeper!
These cookies are awesome!!! Made one batch for my daughter's gymnatics party and then turned around and made a second for here at home. Super easy and tastes good!! Dipped the faces of the cookies in red and white sugar crystals and baked mine an extra 2 - 3 minutes to brown slightly. Definitely will make these again. Thanks for the great recipe!!
These were quite tasty, but didn't crackle for me. We baked them close to 15 minutes and still no crackle but still soft on the inside. Rolled them in sugar before baking. Will make again as they were very easy to make and will be pretty rolled in colored sugar

I made these for my cookie trays this year, and they were my favorite! They were done when they crackled and came out perfectly. Mine were chewy with a little crunch, but I love them that way. These have a great flavor and so much better than regular sugar cookies! Thank you for sharing your recipe with us Judy! Linda
This is a very easy cookie to make. I sometimes forget about the cookies, but these turned out fine. Nice buttery flavor, they actually remind me a bit of Nigella Lawson's recipe for Gateau Breton in cookie form. These were popular at my study group
Though, I do think I will reduce the sugar in the next batch. I have a huge sweet tooth, but these were a bit too sweet for my liking. I would suggest perhaps adding only one cup of sugar, and maybe baking half, see how you like them and then adding more sugar to the other half if you like.
The flavor was pretty good and the dough was easy to work with. Mine came out puffy and cake-like. I prefer more of a flat, chewy cookie.
Best chewy sugar cookies recipe and with a few ingredients. I don't see how any one wouldn't like these cookies. They are crispy on the outside and slightly chewy in the middle. They are not too sweet and so buttery. I don't eat sweet that much but I love these. My family devoured them as soon as they came out of the oven. By the way, I tested half a batch flattened and half I didn't flattened. Dont lose faith because they do flatten out the last 5 minutes into beautiful cracked round cookies before your eyes...So it is not neccessary to flatten them. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
These are beautiful and so good! Nice texture and flavor - not at all dry and bland like so many sugar cookie recipes. Everyone was disappointed when they realized they were all gone - so I guess that means I'll be making them again. I rolled the dough in sugar before baking - I also added a few drops of amaretto to the dough. Thanks for posting!
Super easy and very good. I made jumbo cookies for a fundraiser, so I only got 15 cookies out of it. I flattened them a bit and dipped the tops in mixed colored sugar...really pretty!
