Very good. I will make again and try a different apple. I used granny smith and they were still a bit crisp but I didn't want them to be mushy - they were soft though. I used half bacon drippings and half butter as another reviewer suggested. My husband will enjoy

  1. In a large skillet, melt bacon drippings.
  2. Pour apples evenly over skillet bottom.
  3. Sprinkle lemon juice over them, then brown sugar, then salt. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes until apples are tender and juicy.
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon & nutmeg.
