I've made this dip 4 times now for dinner parties. Absolute party pleaser! I've even made it without almonds when I didn't have the time to get some and it's still great. A couple of times I used a flavoured cream cheese (e.g. garlic and herbs). But to be honest it doesn't need it. The basic recipe is brilliant as is, which is great because I normally edit recipes to my taste in someway to compensate for a lack of flavour, but not this one. May try green onions next time as someone else suggested though.

Very tasty! I made some changes based on ingredients in the pantry. I used Penzey's horshradish (dry seasoning), green onions and omitted the almonds. I assembled the ingredients and spooned it onto pumpernickel party bread. Then baked according to your directions. I thought they were better just out of the oven slightly warm than at room temp. Once they cooled, I didn't think they looked as appetizing. I will use this recipe again, but make it a dip instead. Thanks for posting!

Hi John, have been making this dip for quite a bit - the only thing is that I used the onion juice from a grated onion instead of chopped onions! It is awesome and when you serve it with it already spread on toast points. It makes it a bit more labor intensive but worth it & sprinkled with either parsley or paprika! It looks so pretty and is oh so good, what more could you ask for? Except, maybe your favorite drink too! Thanks for posting and reminding me of the recipe, Diane :)12/22/2007 Update: It is still as marvelous as before but this time I used Onion & Herb cream cheese, absolutely divine! I didn't have to add extra onion but did use the horseradish, almonds & a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes. Thanx again, DiScharf :)
