This is a sweet cornbread cake recipe that is great for a crowd. If you make a pot of ham and beans, you will want this cornbread to accompany it.

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, milk, flour, cornmeal, salt and baking powder.
  3. Bake in a greased sheet cake pan at 400^ for 20 minutes.

Finally! The perfect cornbread recipe! I think it is suppose to be 1 tablespoon Baking Soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder. This has a very fluffy cake like texture. I divided into 3 and it was perfect amount for my family of four. It was the perfect amount of sweet. I also liked that it used butter flavor shortning. I added a little water to the amount per crisco can (like when you substitute Crisco for butter).
