My mother made this on Dec.17, 2002. The best yet! Gemaine loved it!
- 1 1⁄4 cups flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1⁄2 cup white sugar, to taste
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1⁄4 cup oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1 dash nutmeg
- Mix all ingredients together.
- bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
This cornbread is perfect! I have to admit I am used to really buttery cornbread, but I didn't miss the butter at all with this recipe! It is so simple to make(I didn't add nutmeg) and bakes up so nicely and actually held together when I took a piece out. I will SERIOUSLY be making this every week. THANK YOU ZUSIE-Q!!!
