  • Combine cornmeal, flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  • Stir well and set aside.
  • Combine buttermilk, oil, and egg and stir well.
  • Add to dry ingredients, stirring until blended.
  • Bake in preheated oiled waffle iron.
