A great potluck dish. The brine can be saved and frozen to be used again. This recipe can be made in a crock pot set on low. The longer the smokies are simmered the better they will be.
- Slice the smokies into 1/4 inch slices.
- Bring cider, brown sugar and beer to a low boil in a heavy sauce pan.
- Add smokies and boil for at least 45 minutes.
- Serve warm with toothpicks for picking up.
- The brine can be frozen to be used again.
