guys....what most of these recipes miss...and it's a big one...is that the chili recipe is of Greek immigrant origin and therefore has some Mediterranean spices in that they almost never include. Mainly we're talking about cinnamon and cloves. Small amounts (especially cloves which are very strong) but they have to be in there none-the-less. Without those it's just regular ground beef chili.

I made a half recipe of this. It didn't seem spicy enough for me so I might add some more chili powder to the leftovers. The texture, however, was perfect and the method was more or less hassle free. I'd suggest simmering over low heat after a few minutes on medium heat as I nearly burnt the sauce only 15minutes into the cooking time.

We are also from Detroit and crave the occasional "coney". But they dont have them like this ANYWHERE else!!! This recipe is awesome, my entire family loves it! This as close to the real thing as you can get. I would love to freeze leftovers for future use but there arent any leftovers. I make a crock pot full and its gone in no time. We eat this on hot dogs, on a hamburger bun with cheese(remember the chi-chi burger?) or in a bowl topped with onions and cheese. THANK YOU!!!
