Posted per request. My family loves this sauce on hot dogs. It's very simple to make, and you can make the sauce hotter by adding extra chili powder or by adding crushed or liquid red pepper to the mixture. Also freezes well.

  1. Brown beef, onions, and garlic in large skillet.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  3. Simmer, uncovered 10-15 minutes.
  4. Spoon sauce over cooked hot dogs (in buns) with any (or all!) of your other favorite hot dog toppings (sauerkraut, chopped onion, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, melted American or cheddar cheese).

I made this sauce and put it on oven baked fries . It was very similar to A & W's coney fries. I then grated a little cheddar cheese on top. Awesome!

A very close sauce for A&W coney fries. I increased the beef to 1 lb, added a pinch of cumin and thyme and a splash of red wine to thin it out. Spooned it over a huge bowl of homemade french fries and went straight to A&W heaven. Made 2 portions and ate both of them myself in record time. Thanks for the memories.

Just wanted you to know, I still use this recipe. I alternate between 2. We really enjoy it. I do add a couple dashes of tobassco sauce as we like it HOT. Thanks.
