My favorite cole slaw recipe. I'm asked to make this all summer long. Goes great with BBQ. I could almost make a meal out of this on it's own. Reminds me of comfort food because it has all of my favorite flavors all in the same bowl.
- 1 medium head of cabbage, shredded
- 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
- 1 (16 ounce) jar coleslaw dressing
- 3 ounces bacon bits
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- ripe tomatoes (to garnish)
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Chill overnight to blend flavors.
- Serve with ripe tomato slices on the side.
This was made for the Cooking Tag Mania Special event & I agree w/you. After the 1st bite, I could easily have eaten it as a meal. I used red onion for its flavor & color (for the pic) plus 1 cup of dressing I made using Sweet Cole Slaw Dressing. I agree w/the other reviewer that raisins would be an excellent add, but would not make a chg otherwise. This recipe is just too good to mess with! Thx for sharing it w/us. :-)
This has been one of the few times I've made a recipe calling for blue cheese, & must admit that the flavor it adds is A-OK! I did cut back on the amount of dressing & included only about 3/4 of the jar, but that's just a personal preference! And, another time I MIGHT add a small handful of raisins (also my preference!)! Thanks for posting your recipe! [Made & reviewed for one of my adopted orphans at the end of this Spring's PAC]
