Sweet & Tangy Coleslaw Dressing

"This is a different coleslaw dressing. My mother always made this type of dressing when I was a kid. It's great for those times when you need a non-mayo type dressing."

  1. I really liked the ingredients in this recipe, but I have to say that the sugar really overpowers all of the other flavors. Even after cutting it in half, it's the only thing I taste. On the plus side, the texture of the dressing is perfect, and really coats the slaw mix well. If you like sweet dressings, this may be perfect for you!

  2. I loved this cole slaw dressing! I'll be putting this in my keeper file. I made this for New Kids on the Block, but since I tagged this...it is no longer a "New Kid"! Loved it anyway. Thanks for posting!

  3. Wow, this one is really very hard for me to rate. I don't want to assign stars because it's all subject to personal taste. The recipe works perfectly. I tagged this in 1-2-3 Tag knowing that I would need to reduce the sweetness which is normally no problem at all. As I'm the only one here who enjoys coleslaw I made a 1/4 cup of dressing. This amount asks for 1/4 cup of sugar to 1/4 cup of oil with only 1 tbsp of vinegar. I made the recipe as directed with the exception of the sugar. I used 1 tablespoon of Splenda for the 1/4 cup of sugar. Even so, sweet was the strongest element present (to my taste). I went back and doubled the mustard, the seeds, onion, more salt and grated in black pepper. I found this to suite my taste much better. If your a real sweet tooth this will be a dream come true for you and I encourage you to give it a try.

  4. Enjoyed this a lot, thank you. I served with a red cabbage and red onion coleslaw like the picture Rita has taken. I also halved the sugar and used slightly more mustard.

  5. I used 1/2 the sugar and smart balance oil. I also grated onion into the dressing because I didn`t have dried onions. Skipped the salt. Thanks!
