  1. I used this wonderful remedy to calm a cough I had after running earlier this morning. Reading the other reviews I made one cupful of this. I had premade green tea, so I put in enough to fill my 8 oz. coffee mug. Warmed this tea in the microwave for 45 seconds, added the rest of the ingredients, and probably added close to 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, as I am a true *pepper head* and although this does have a kick, it did quiet me down, and felt warm in my chest. I didn't sip it per/se I kinda drank it quickly. Thank you Fifi, I will be using this quite often to get ready for my 1/2 marathon in May. January 2009.

  2. This is the nuclear option for severe congestion all right! It did a job on both my plugged-up head and my rattly lungs. Unfortunately, its not particularly pleasant to the taste and actually painful on a sore throat to the point that my son, who loves spicy food, could only drink a couple sips. I'd probably have given it 4 stars for effectiveness, but since the directions are incomplete, omitting the amount of water, I couldn't rate it that highly. I used the ingredients as given for 12 (6oz) cups in a coffeepot, which would be the equivalent of steeping them in 4 (oz) cups in a teapot. Even then we needed a splash of milk to tame the fire enough to drink it.

  3. I was not sure how much water to add as it is not listed so I started with one cup- an amount of one serving as stated. This is HOT! Added some more water and it was palatable- so in my estimation= about 2.5 to 3 cups or 20-24 oz. Not sure if this will cure my congestion but am hopeful! My nose is now dripping tho! Good sign? Thanks for sharing a recipe that may help people to feel better. My advice.... Have this recipe in your hand or file BEFORE you get sick! :)

  4. Very good remedy. I gave it to dh after he has been taking cold medicines for 2 days straight without relief. i used Moroccan Mint tea (green gun powder tea with mint)

  5. I like this. I made this with one mug full of water in a pot on the stove using approximately half the amount of spices and a lot less honey which I added after it was steeped plus the optional lemon juice also after steeping. I used freshly ground cardamom as I love it's taste and an organic green tea plus the rest. I may make this again for congestion.
