Yum! Absolutely delicious! The only thing I might change is to make it in a somewhat smaller pan so the cake is higher. Now it's somewhat on the low side. Nevertheless, I REALLY loved the taste of this cake.
AMAZING!! After I made it for my husband, he gobbled it up, and then asked me to make it again the next day! This is to die for!!
This was an easy, quick cake to put together. I added about 1/4 tsp of nutmeg to the cake batter and cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup. I made my streusel topping with half brown sugar half white. The result was moist but light. Reminded us of what a rather pricey local coffee house serves. Thanks, truebrit, this is a keeper.
DH and I really liked this! Made it Christmas morning with our coffee and present opening. It was warm, moist, sweet and delicious! Was not overpoweringly sweet in our opinion, as it complimented the coffee so nicely. Only change I made was to bake it in an 8x8 square pan instead of a 9x13, as suggested by other reviewer, so it would make a thicker cake. Had to increase the baking time, of course. Great basic coffee cake -- and so quick to prepare. Will definitely make it again! Thanks truebrit!
the strusel seemed a little too moist for good handling when it came to crumbling. great flavor though! I added some allspice to the strusel just because i love the smell of cloves.
This cake was sooooo good my family loved it instead of streusel I used pie filling
