Coconut Crunch Apple Pie

The coconut adds a nice flavor and crunch to the crust of this pie. I make this every year and it's a big hit.

WOW! Coconut and Apple! I thought - not sure when I started this but as I had a lot of coconut and apple - I decided to give it a try. I made the following amendments: Cut the salt, used 1/4 cup butter for the shortening, left out cinnamon (Family dont like it!) switched walnuts for Pecans. Easy and delicious. I made two 10 inch shallow pies with these ingiedients. Deffinately makeing again! My 8 year old suggested I make little individual ones in muffin tins - which could be very nice!

  1. Crust:mix flour and salt.cut in shortning until pea sizedmix in water by the tbsp until dough is soft.roll out doughsprinkle with coconut and roll in bottom of pie plate.
  2. Filling:Mix together put in crust.(apples sugar cinnamon and flour).
  3. Topping:Mix together Sprinkle on top.(Last 6 ingredients).
  4. bake at 350* for 30 minute.
