directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make sure that the butter is at room temperature, or put the butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds just to soften it up.
  • Using a mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until everything is incorporated and you're left with a luscious chocolate dough.
  • Make truffle-sized balls and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for exactly 8 minutes--no longer--no less.
  • Let them cool.
  • Enjoy! :).

Reviews

  1. This recipe rocks! I literally created an account just to be able to post a review. <br/>I have made these 7 times in 2 weeks. I crave them! The recipe is so good as is, but with trying to lose baby weight I have made it healthier each time, just testing the waters. I use coconut oil instead of butter, oat flour, and always put less sugar in and they taste amazing, the coconut oil adds such a great flavor. They are in the oven now, but with honey instead of the sugars. The batter tasted amazing, just waiting to see how they bake :) God Bless you for this recipe! I'm addicted!

  2. i double this recipe, use about a tablespoon per cookie, roll them in sugar, and bake for 12 minutes and they are tip top. go halfsies peppermint extract and vanilla for a little mint party in your mouth. rock.

  3. I added about half of a frozen carmelo bar chopped as finely as i could and these cookies were AMAZA-ZA-ZING!!! Happy Birthday to me!!

  4. I made these while stuck in the house during hurricane Harvey. I used dark chocolate cocoa instead of regular cocoa. They taste just like oreos! Love!

  5. This is my favourite cookie recipe on the planet!! I make them every two weeks, sometimes more often... for us or work. Everyone loves them. You can replace the cocoa with ground almonds or quick oats, just flour or even shredded coconut and each version tastes phenomenal! I suggest to put the dough into fridge to let it chill for approx 3 hours.

Tweaks

  1. i used 1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder in place of baking soda because i was out and they turned out great!

  2. I used shortening with 1tbs of water instead of butter but it was just as amazing!

  3. Added melted white chocolate and candy cane Hershey bar as icing.

  4. I followed directions with the exception as others said and used Crisco in place of butter.. They were PERFECT.. And 8 minute is exact. they are soft on inside and crispy on outside.

  5. Wonderful, yummy, and easy. I didn't have all the right ingredients, so I used coconut oil instead of butter, and used honey instead of white sugar.
