This is the first meatballs I have ever made, so I don't really know what meatballs are suppose to taste like. These balls are good though. The chili sauce and grape jelly go great together.
- 1 lb lean hamburger
- 1⁄2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1⁄3 cup minced onion
- 1⁄4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 bottle chili sauce
- 1 (10 ounce) jar grape jelly
- Mix meat, crumbs, onion, milk, egg, parsley, Worcestershire, pepper.
- Mix well.
- Shape into balls.
- Bake 350 20-25 minutes.
- In the meantime, heat chili sauce and grape jelly in a saucepan.
- Add meatballs (when done in the oven) and coat and simmer meatballs about 30 min uncovered.
LOVED THEM! I've eatten them before but this was my first time making them. I gotta admit...I cheated and used pre-made meatballs. They were the first thing to be gone from the New Year's buffett. Thanks for sharing!
Perfect simple cocktail meatball recipe. Everyone loves the sweet and slightly tangy sauce made with the grape jelly and chili sauce. The meatballs were mild and complemented the sauce well. This is a classic recipe that quickly disappeared from an appetizer buffet.
Hmmm... I have heard about grape jelly and chili sauce meatballs, and I made this for a party last week. I substituted ground turkey for the beef. It tasted just like grape jelly to me which wasn't very appetizing. Maybe it's an acquired taste, I know there are a lot of people who love meatballs done this way. I ended up adding a can of tomato sauce and some barbeque sauce and liked it much better. To each his own! Thanks for the recipe, though, I have been wanting to try this out for a long time.
