This has got to be better than Subway bread. I work at Subway. Italian herb and cheese bread starts out as white (italian) bread (every kind of Subway bread comes frozen as white or wheat) and is then rolled in a mix of herbs and salt once thawed, proofed to 75% the size of the final loaf, then sprinkled with Monterey cheddar cheese then baked. The only special part about Subway bread is what it is rolled in or sprinkled with. Otherwise inside it's plain white or wheat!
I already had some italian bread started so added the oregano and parmesan. Excellent with our minestrone.
Do you ever just get a random burst of motivation to clean your room, paint a masterpiece OR bake bread, at like 3am? Well, what up widdat? Excellent bread!
This turned out great. It made two loaf for me. My husband and daughter loved it. I didn't make it in the bread machine, but will next time. Thank you for sharing this. My family wanted me to make the bread that was kind of like subway and this fix perfectly in to that category. Thank you again for sharing. Chef#220151
Very good bread. I made as listed except I used the dough cycle on my breadmaker. I removed the dough and divided it into (12) rolls. I let the rolls rise again and baked at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes- until they were a nice browned color. I think in order to make them just like Subways you could sprinkle w/ shredded parmesan before baking. Even without doing that this is good bread. Family loved it.
