It seems that everyone has their own favorite oatmeal cookie recipe and this is mine. I pulled this off the back of a chocolate chip bag years ago. It called for chocolate chips, but I used raisins instead and tweaked the flour to oat ratio a little.

  1. Cream butter with sugars. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  2. Sift flour with baking soda, salt and spices; add to butter mixture.
  3. Stir in oats and raisins or chocolate chips.
  4. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes for chewy and 10-11 for crispy.
