My daughter Claudia mostly thinks about winning medals in her Special Olympics events but she has to help cook too so this is an easy recipe she can make with a little help from me . We think it is a good basic recipe.
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 cup bullseye barbecue sauce
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- In a large non-stick skillet, brown hamburger meat and onion over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Discard any off drippings.
- Stir in barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper, heat through, stirring occasionally. Spoon equal amounts of beef mixture on bottom half of each bun.
Gotta give you that 5-star rating, even though I omitted one of the ingredients! Because of the amount of sodium in the BBQ sauce, I left out the additional salt, but other than that everything was done right down the line, & these sloppy joes are very, very nice to the taste buds! Oh, yeah, rather than using buns, I used thick slices of an outstanding, locally baked 11-grain bread! OUTSTANDING! [Made & reviewed for one of my adopted chefs in this Spring's PAC]
