This a Delaware, Maryland, Virginia staple. You must use Blue Lump Crabmeat. You can get this canned in the refrigerated seafood area at you supermarket. It is expensive! If you buy off the shelf you just ruined it, not even close to real deal. This recipe calls for this long list of crazy ingredients. How are you suppose to taste the delicious delicate blue crabs with all of this? Authentic Chesapeake crab cakes require almost no ingredients and NO sauce! Make them with just a little unseasoned bread crumbs or saltines with a tiny bit of water to hold them together, I like a little Old Bay seasoning then gently broil them or as I prefer sautés in a cast iron skillet with a little olive oil and unsalted butter. Get ready to ENJOY!!

as a lifetime DC area resident, the best crabcakes are blue's, with as little as possible to hold it together. Lump crab, and more crab. Broiled. Someone said they wanted to fry!! NOOOO. Crab is too fragile. Anyway, for those of you who've never experienced a Chesapeake Bay Blue you need to put it on your bucket list and visit the area. If you really love crabs, it will be an experience worth the trip! :) With online shopping you can order blue crab, and save the cost of visiting. Trust me, it'll be worth it..! Make sure it is clearly labeled BLUE. :) https://www.webstaurantstore.com/lintons-seafood-1-lb-backfin-lump-maryland-blue-crab-meat/872LCRBMBFL1.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5NnbBRDaARIsAJP-YR-BCSfQkv3S-TaIuA0ghC50eQ-1zNVot8Gc3ViUPt3GCZy6VnljQ2waAjuEEALw_wcB (Not an endorsement, i've never bought from them, but it'll give you a clue what to look for :) )

This is one great crab cake, I am so glad I got to taste this, as well as make it. Easy to put together, and delicious as well. This recipe for crab cakes sets all apart from the others. The addition of baking powder is terrific, as it gives a wonderful light texture. I will use this recipe from now on. Thanks Little Bee~for one terrific recipe.

I am happily married to my best friend and we just bought our first house! No kids but we have 2 little dogs that we think the world of. I was born in California and although I have been on the East Coast for most of my life I am still displaced! I love the beach and hate the cold! In our free time we love to go to the beach or the mountains and hike or intertube down the lazy Shenendoah River. It is so beautiful there! I have loved to cook all of my life and will read cookbooks like they are novels!
