- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1⁄2 green pepper, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup celery, chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3 hot dogs, cut in small pieces
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 0.5 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
directions
- In soup kettle or dutch oven, saute onions, pepper, and celery in oil until tender, about five minutes.
- Add beef and cook until browned, drain.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire, and seasonings.
- Bring to a boil; reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 hours, stir occasionally.
- Add kidney beans if desired.
- Add any additional veggies you have on hand.
